Major charity Web 2.0 Social Networking Conference in York – 12 Feb 09

Filed under: Uncategorized — freelancefundraiser @ 10:13 am

After several days of emails, tweets on Twitter, Facebook messages, emails and even good old fashioned phone calls, I’m pleased to announce the second Institute of Fundraising North Conference!

The event will take place on Thursday 12 Feb 2009 at the National Railway Museum, York, just a few steps away from York railway station, so easy to access from all points north, midlands and London.

Our theme (not titled yet) will be working with New Media (Internet, websites, email, Voip) and Social Media (known as Web 2.0) which includes all the social networking services, such as Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, YouTube, Flickr etc.

The day will progress from the basics in the morning to the more advanced and ground-breaking initiatives in the afternoon. It will have a wide appeal to people from all sizes of charity and Internet awareness levels.

Our first 3 speakers confirmed are: Howard Lake (Fundraising UK); Steve Bridger (freelance IT/Web 2.0 consultant) and Beth Kanter (probably the world’s leading expert on the use of social media by charities). Beth will – technology allowing – be joining us live from the US via the Web! I hope to add a couple more speakers of this calibre in the next week or so.

It’s a great subject for this point in time, very relevant and at a stage of incredible growth and development. We have a great venue and a great line up! Also, we are committed to provide these events at a price any charity can afford, so you can expect something for around £100 or less!

As soon as more details are confirmed, I’ll be posting a booking form and flyer on the IoF website. I’ll also add more to this blog and on Twitter. So follow me there if you want to be in the know!
